Philodendron spp. 'Ceylon Gold'

The size of the plant and of its bag can vary a little from the photograph — each one grows at its own pace. We keep them as consistent as we can.
Overview
Gold over green: Ceylon Gold is a philodendron selection whose new leaf emerges a bright golden yellow and shifts to lime green as it matures, so the plant always carries two colors at once. The genus belongs to tropical America, and like every philodendron this one climbs: give it a moss pole or a stake and it goes up close against it, putting out larger leaves as it rises. It's one of the most rewarding houseplants there is.
Culture
Bright but indirect light: that's what keeps the gold lit, since direct sun burns the leaf and deep shade turns it green with small leaves. A loose, airy mix with bark or fiber that drains fast; water when the top layer feels dry. Warmth and humid air. Multiply it from a stem cutting with one node and an aerial root, which roots without trouble. Train it onto the pole while it's young.
Edible Uses
Not edible: like the other plants in the anthurium family, it contains calcium oxalate crystals that irritate the mouth. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Medicinal
We don't offer it as a medicinal plant.
